About Surplus to Supper and how we support the local community

Our Mission

Surplus to Supper is proudly led by a passionate team of over 200 volunteers—and growing—who are at the heart of everything we do. As a volunteer-led charity, we are committed to tackling food waste and food poverty with energy, compassion, and community spirit.
Our fleet of vans, driven and managed by volunteers, collects and accepts surplus food from businesses that would otherwise end up in landfill. The rescued food is then redistributed to food banks and community partners, ensuring it reaches those who need it most.
In our volunteer-run Surplus Kitchen, collected ingredients are transformed into culturally relevant nutritious meals for vulnerable individuals in our local area. We also host a weekly market giving the local community the opportunity to support our activities, and provide catering for weddings, corporate events, and community gatherings - all using surplus food.
None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers. Their dedication fuels every delivery, every meal, and every event making Surplus to Supper a thriving example of what community-led action can achieve.
